I wanted to get an early start in looking for photo opportunities, but as you can tell from this picture, the sun had not began to give light. However, the street lighting was intriguing, especially with the light rainfall.

An hour later, the sun was giving some light though there was an overcast with a light rain and fog. The street lights were still on. You can see the Madeline Island Ferry docked and that the lake is calm.

This view towards the south shows Madeline Island in the background and that most of the boats had been removed from the water and put in storage for the winter. There were five boat still in the water and we watched one large boat being picked up from the lake and placed on land.

In the cold air, one large sea bird perched atop a street light where heat was being given off.

The sun rose higher in the sky and I walked out on the pier to take pictures. Here is one of the last boats to be taken out of the water in this harbor.

The wind picked up a bit and made the day chillier. This shows the waves on the cold waters of Lake Superior and the colorful landscape in the background.

In the afternoon I walked over to where many of the boats had been placed to wait out the winter.
